Vajikarana Ghrita
Vajikara ghee or ghrita is an Ayurvedic Vajikarana Medicine that is prepared by processing ghee or clarified butter with aphrodisiac herbs.
Acharya Charaka has mentioned this Ayurvedic preparation. He recommends this to men who suffer from infertility, erectile dysfunction, and premature ejaculation and recommends using this in Vajikarana Therapy.
In Charaka Samhita acharya charaka explains the method of preparing Vajikarana Ghrita (ghee processed with aphrodisiac herbs). This aphrodisiac ghee is recommended for persons who have low sperm count and low sperm motility. The method of preparation is explained below.
Ingredients of Vajikarana Ghee:
- Newly grown Black gram or urad dal – 25 gm (powdered)
- Seed powder of kapikacchu (mucuna pruriens) – 25 gm (powdered)
- Shatavari, ashwagandha, Safed Musli, Madhuyashti [ Glycerrhiza Glabra. ] – 3 gm each (powdered)
- Ghee (prepared from cow’s milk) – 10 gm
- Vidari kanda (Pueraria tuberosa) – 10 gm
- Sugar cane juice – 10 g
- Cow’s milk – 100 ml
- Powdered Sugar candy – 5 gm
- Honey – 5 gm
- Long pepper (pippali )powder – 1 gm
How to Prepare Vajikarana Ghee ?
Boil Black gram, kapikacchu (mucuna pruriens), Shatavari, ashwagandha, Madhuyashti [ Glycerrhiza Glabra. ] herbs in 650 ml of water. Boil till ¼ of water remains. Now add Ghee (clarified butter prepared from cow’s milk), Juice of Vidari kanda (Pueraria tuberosa), Sugar cane juice, and Cow’s milk to this and boil on a simmered controlled low heat. Wait till the frothing disappears and the ghee is completely prepared. Now put off the heat and allow it to get cooled. Add Sugar candy, Honey, and Long pepper powder when the mixture is completely cooled. Store it in an airtight container. This Vajikarana Recipe is described in the texts of Ayurveda.
