Female libido description in Ayurveda
In Ayurveda females or women are praised as “sadyo vajikara” , which means the one who triggers instant arousal in a man. Ayurveda acharyas emphasize the fact that men should have intercourse only when their female partners have good desire and interest in sexual activities.
Women lose and gain their sexual desire in various stages of life. This is like a wave that surges at some stages of life and dips at some periods. In recent times research about this condition in women is picking up the pace. Past studies were more oriented toward treating male sexual desire. But now more and more research and studies are being conducted on female sexual inclination.

What is Female Libido?
Women’s interest and desire in sexual activities is female libido. This may fluctuate at various stages of life. Like men, women also suffer from low desire or interest to indulge in sexual activities.
Causes for less Desire in women

Sexual Cause :
If women constantly experience pain during sexual acts it may lower their desire. Sex becomes a nightmare. Sexual abuse in childhood may also cause low libido in females. A past negative experience in sex is also one of the reasons.
Hormonal Imbalance:

According to Ayurveda women get their sexual feelings due to “artava” which is almost equivalent to “shukra dhatu” in men. “artava” is the reason for female fertility and the menstrual cycle. When there is a reduction or imbalance of artava , women experience low drive. Undernourishment, stress, medicines, diseases, etc may reduce the quality and quantity of artava.

- A constant worry about low desire towards sex can further increase if your partner is sexually very active.
