15 Ayurvedic Indian Home Remedies for ED and PE (Impotence)


Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a widespread concern among men, affecting their confidence and intimate relationships. It’s no surprise that many seek safe, private, and effective solutions to this problem. There are various home remedies recommended for erectile dysfunction or klaibya in ayurveda. Home remedies for ED present a compelling option due to several reasons. Lots of Indian home remedies using kitchen ingredients are in use for ages, to address these conditions.

Firstly, these remedies often consist of natural ingredients that are easily accessible, affordable, and less likely to cause side effects compared to pharmaceutical drugs. They can offer a more holistic approach, not only addressing the immediate issue but also promoting overall health. Ingredients like garlic, ginseng, and dark chocolate, for example, contribute to cardiovascular health, which is crucial for robust performance.

Secondly, home remedies allow for the comfort of privacy, which is essential given the sensitive nature of ED. Many men may feel hesitant to discuss such issues, even with healthcare professionals.

Finally, home remedies may complement medical treatments for ED, enhancing their effects.

Acharya Charaka has explained various treatment methods to treat Impotence or Erectile dysfunction which arises due to different causes. These treatment methods have been elaborated in “Chikitsa sthana”. These include a few effective home remedies too.

Here are a few such homemade remedies which are widely used in India. Few of these are recommended in Indian ayurvedic texts.

#1 Dry Fruits with Ghee or Panjeeri

Ghee is praised as vrishya or aphrodisiac by Ayurveda acharyas. Its use is widely recommended in Erectile Dysfunction and Premature Ejaculation. The best ayurvedic remedy for erectile dysfunction is with ghee and dry fruits. Dry fruits are very effective in erectile dysfunction and increasing male fertility ( 1 ). The home remedy goes as follows. Take raisins, walnuts, almonds, and dates (Seeds removed) in equal proportions. Fry these individually with the required amount of ghee and store them in an airtight container. Usually, they add Jaggery to enhance the taste. This total mix is known as dry fruit panjeeri in India. Boil a tablespoon of this mixture with a glass of milk. Consume this milk twice daily after food. CAUTION: Men with high cholesterol have to use ghee cautiously.

#2 Coconut Milk and Coconut Water

A fully ripe pulp of coconut is eulogized as a very good aphrodisiac or Vajikara. It is known to increase the quality and quantity of semen. Freshly squeezed coconut milk from coconut gratings is very helpful in soothing the digestive system. It nourishes shukra dhatu and also helps to relieve constipation. For this take a small cup of (1/4 of coconut) freshly grated coconut. Add little water and blend it in a mixer. Extract the coconut milk through sieving. Repeat the same process of adding little water, blending, and sieving the same gratings till the milk is squeezed completely. Drink a glass of this coconut milk daily.

Tender coconut acts as a body coolant. Drinking tender coconut water daily helps to improve stamina and energy. Caution: Men who suffer from erectile dysfunction due to diabetes should not drink tender coconut water. Also if you have a pitta dosha dominant constitution do not drink coconut milk.

#3 Onions with Butter

Onions are known as the best Vajikara. Regular consumption of raw or cooked onion helps in conditions like erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation, and low libido ( 3 ). For this cut, a medium-sized onion into long thin slices fry it in butter till it becomes tender, and consume it on an empty stomach. #4 Carrots and Dates Salad

This salad is known as the best Vajikarana Food. The carrot and dates salad supplies plenty of nutrients. It is very delicious to taste. The major ingredients of this salad are dates, carrots, almonds, garlic, and mild spices. Dates are praised as Shukrala in the texts of Ayurveda. They help to increase libido, sperm count, and sperm motility. Carrots are known to be good veggies for men. The nutrients in carrots reduce incidences of erectile dysfunction in men. Almonds are used as dry fruits. These contain plenty of minerals and vitamins like zinc, selenium, vitamin E, etc. These are very essential to boost sexual function. Almonds slow down the aging process. Garlic has cholesterol-reducing properties. According to the texts of Ayurveda, it increases sperm count, sperm motility and helps in erectile dysfunction. The spices in this salad increase metabolism, detoxify the liver, and eliminate sticky toxins.

Here is the recipe for carrots and dates salad.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup soft dates, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 2 cups grated carrot
  • ¼ cup roasted chopped almonds
  • 1 clove garlic, finely chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin or jeera
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

  • 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh mint
  • 1 tablespoon chopped coriander leaves

Prepare a salad dressing by mixing lemon juice, olive oil, and ground spices. Put dates in a small bowl. Pour the salad dressing onto the dates and leave to soak for 15 minutes. Add carrots, almonds, garlic, mint, and coriander to the mixing bowl and mix them well. Add rock salt. Allow this salad to stand for 15 minutes before serving.

Note: diabetes patients can reduce the number of dates (5-6 dates)

#5 Aphrodisiac soup

Soups are all-time favorite recipes enjoyed by all age groups. Here is a recipe for soup made from aphrodisiac ingredients. These ingredients are delicately blended and mixed to dish out delicious soup.

Chief ingredients: (Serves 3)

  • 2 large onions longitudinally slit or diced
  • 2 medium-sized carrots diced

  • Fresh green peas – ½ cup
  • 3-4 cloves of garlic
  • 1-inch grated ginger
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • ½ inch cinnamon stick
  • Black pepper – ½ teaspoon
  • Long pepper or pippali – ½ teaspoon
  • Cumin seeds – ½ spoon
  • Butter for seasoning – 2 teaspoon
  • Salt to taste.
  • Cream – 1 small cup

Boil all ingredients with 2 cups of water till veggies soften, except salt, fresh peas, cumin seeds, and cream. Allow the cooked ingredient mix to cool. Blend all cooked ingredients in a blender to make a smooth paste. Heat a wok or kadahi. Toss butter in it to melt. Add cumin seeds and roast it well. Add fresh peas and toss them till they are soft. Pour the blended mix into the wok. Stir well. Add salt and bring it to a boil. Add cream before serving. Savor it with roasted urad papads. (black gram papads)

#6 Broken Wheat Pudding

Broken wheat, also known as bulgur or cracked wheat, is a versatile ingredient that lends itself wonderfully to a rich, delicious pudding. Here is a simple recipe that will serve as a delicious dessert or comforting breakfast.

Start by soaking half a cup of broken wheat in water for about an hour. In a saucepan, add the soaked wheat along with 2 cups of milk. Bring it to a boil and then reduce the heat, letting it simmer until the wheat is fully cooked and the mixture thickens.

While the wheat is simmering, in another pan, roast a handful of chopped nuts such as almonds and cashews in a teaspoon of ghee until they’re golden brown. Once the wheat mixture is ready, add in 1/4 cup of jaggery or sugar, stirring until it’s fully dissolved.

Finally, add in the roasted nuts, a pinch of cardamom powder for an aromatic touch, and mix well. Serve your broken wheat pudding warm or chilled, garnished with a few strands of saffron or dried fruits for an extra special touch. Enjoy the wholesome goodness!

#7 Garlic in Ghee

Garlic is one of the most effective natural harmless aphrodisiacs if taken properly. It is the best food for erectile dysfunction. It is a tonic for loss of sexual power due to any cause, and for sexual debility and resulting from sexual overindulgence and nervous exhaustion. Two to three cloves of raw garlic should be chewed daily or better still, put in a vessel, on low heat in cow ghee till they turn golden brown. This takes care of the heat, without loss of aphrodisiac value. #9 Carrots and Ash gourd halwa

Grate them finely, mix in Indian cow ghee or cow milk, and heat till cooked, adding a little sugar and cardamom, nutmeg, etc. This recipe is termed Carrot Halwa in India, but very few maybe knowing that it is an aphrodisiac. Instead of sugar, you can add honey when lukewarm. The carotene in carrots preserves its health value even when cooked. #10 Drumstick or Moringa Soup

A soup made with about fifteen grams of drumstick or moringa flowers boiled in 250 ml milk is very useful as a sexual tonic in the treatment of sexual debility. It is also useful in functional sterility in both males and females. The powder of the dry bark is also valuable in erection loss, premature ejaculation, and thinness of semen. About 100 gm of the powder of the dry bark should be boiled in half a liter of water for about half an hour. #14 Long Pepper with milk

Long pepper, also known as Piper longum, is a spice that offers a range of health benefits. Combining it with milk results in a soothing and nutritious beverage. Here’s a simple recipe for preparing long pepper milk.

Start by crushing one long pepper into a coarse powder using a mortar and pestle. If you don’t have a mortar and pestle, a regular spice grinder will work just fine.

In a saucepan, bring two cups of milk to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to a simmer and add in the crushed long pepper. Simmer the mixture for about 10 minutes to allow the flavors to infuse thoroughly.

After 10 minutes, strain the milk into a mug or glass, discarding the long pepper remnants. Add a teaspoon of honey or jaggery to sweeten, if desired. Stir well.

#15 Follow Ayurvedic Life Style

Always follow ayurvedic healthy lifestyle as recommended in “dinacharya” (ayurvedic daily routine) and “rutucharya” (Ayurvedic seasonal routine). Few of these are mentioned here.

Consume herbal preparations which include herbs like ashwagandha, gokshura (tribulus ), vidarikand (indian Kudzu), shilajit, safed musli, kapikacchu (mucuna ), and shatavari to rejuvenate the reproductive organs.

Massage the whole body with herbal oil (made from sesame oil once a week to get relief from exertion, and stress and strengthen muscles. This process is known as abhyanga.

Strictly say no to tobacco especially smoking, recreational drugs, and alcohol.
